James Ellis and Peter Tierney practiced law together as associates and partners in a well known large Dallas law firm for over 38 years. Our time at that firm provided us with unmatched training and legal experience. In late 2008, we decided to start our own law firm, enjoy the independence of such a venture, budget carefully to keep the overhead expenses low, provide services of the same kind and quality as we have in the past, and adjust our hourly rates so that our fees will be substantially lower than fees charged by our peers at large firms with similar skills and experience. Furthermore, we are free to consider non-standard and creative fee arrangements for special matters of any kind. In short, we offer quality legal services based on our extensive training and experience--for much more flexible and affordable fees.
Our principal practice emphasis has been the following: - general business and commercial litigation for individuals and small and midsize business entities;
- general counsel advice to small and midsize business entities;
- entity formation and related legal advice including executive and equity owner liability protection, shareholder agreements and exit strategies;
- advice to executives and directors regarding employment, severance, change of control, insurance, indemnity, and fiduciary obligations; and
- corporate governance including representation of boards of directors, special committees, officers and individuals in connection with special corporate and bank investigations.
We were pleased that in 2010 James Ellis was again selected as a Super Lawyer in business litigation by Texas Monthly based upon peer recognition and professional achievement and that Peter Tierney was again selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2011 Edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of corporate governance and compliance law.
